The Disease Early Warning Advisory System (DEWAS) network is a unique model to prevent wheat rust outbreaks, safeguarding harvests worldwide. This letter shares the approach and importance of DEWAS, drawing on the example of the first detection of Ug99 stem rust in Nepal (2023), buying vital time for control responses.
